- Immediate Reporting: Immediately report all work-related injuries or illnesses to your immediate supervisor, no matter how minor.
- Claims Coordinator: Report to the Workplace Safety Claims Coordinator to complete a 1st Injury Form (located in the St. Joseph Academic & Health Resource Center, 2nd Floor, Suite 217).
- Documentation: Provide detailed information regarding the scene and conditions that contributed to the injury or illness, including photographs and witness names and contact information.
Types Of Injuries and Illnesses
- Minor Injury: Not life-threatening and treated with first aid only (e.g., minor scrapes, insect bites).
- Occupational Injury: Physical or mental harm sustained by an employee while performing job duties.
- Occupational Illness: A health condition or disease arising from exposure to workplace hazards or factors.
- Severe Injury or Illness: If severe, call 911 and XUPD at (504) 520-7490 immediately.
- Examples include: Traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries resulting in partial or total paralysis, loss of an arm, leg, eyesight, or hearing, or permanent damage/loss of function to an organ.
