The Master of Science in Health Informatics program is designed to accomplish the following outcomes:
- Educate students so that they will be able to manage patient health information and medical records effectively, administer computer information systems, collect and analyze patient data from large datasets (e.g. clinical data warehouse) for decision-making, and use classification systems and medical terminologies.
- Educate students to understand various coding systems, terminology/ nomenclatures, and relevant health information standards used in analyzing health data and facilitating health information exchange.
Based on the learning objectives and competencies of the CAHIIM. Program graduates are expected to demonstrate knowledge and skills in the following domains:

Admission Requirements
- Official transcripts that indicate the completion of an undergraduate degree in allied health fields, science or social science, or business from an accredited institution
- Please note: Applicants must submit a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a minimum 2.75 GPA
- Three Academic or Professional Letters of Recommendation on official letterhead and signed by someone who can speak to your potential as a graduate student.
- Statement of Interest
- Please, clearly express your interest in health informatics, and why you are pursuing this degree. Also, explain your professional goals, how your goals relate to this degree, and what have you done, either academically or professionally, to guide your interest in health informatics?

- Note: The median test scores are 280 combined on the GRE
- TOEFL Score
- *Students who are not native speakers of English will be required to pass the TOEFL and demonstrate English speaking comprehension skills appropriate for service delivery. A minimum TOEFL score of 600 on the paper-based exam, or 100 on the internet-based exam, must be achieved on a test taken within the last two years. Students may be referred for accent reduction or ESL instruction
