LOSFA (Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance) determines eligibility for all students. Eligibility determined by LOSFA supersedes TOPS award listed on any student’s early ‘estimated’ award letter from 藏精阁.

Renewal

Students must:

  • Enroll as a full-time student during each Fall and Spring semester during the academic year
  • Remain continuously enrolled
  • Earn 24 hours of credit during the academic year.

At the end of each academic year the following TOPS cumulative grade point average (GPA) as determined by LOSFA, must be maintained:

  • Opportunity Award: 
    • 2.30 End of First Year academic year
    • 2.50 End of all other academic years
  • Performance Award: 3.00 End of all Academic Years
  • Honors Award: 3.00 End of all Academic Years

Louisiana Go Grant

The La Go Grant is a need-based grant offered by the State of Louisiana to support nontraditional and low to moderate-income students who need additional aid to afford the cost of attending college.

Eligibility

Students must:

  • Be a Louisiana Resident;
  • File a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);
  • Receive a federal Pell grant;
  • Have remaining financial need after deducting Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) and all federal/state/institutional grant or scholarship aid ("gift aid") from student's Cost of Attendance (COA); Priority is given to students 25 and older and students with the most need.
  • Be a student enrolled in an eligible Louisiana institution on at least a half-time basis (minimum 6 hours).

Federal TEACH Grant 

The TEACH Grant Program provides grants of up to $4,000 a year to students who are completing or plan to complete course work needed to begin a career in teaching.

Who can get a Teach Grant?

To receive a TEACH Grant, you must:

  • Meet the .
  • Complete the 
  • Be enrolled as an undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, or graduate student in a TEACH-Grant-eligible program.
  • Establish and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25.
  • Complete TEACH Grant counseling that explains the terms and conditions of the TEACH Grant service obligation. You must complete counseling each year that you receive a TEACH Grant.  Website:

D.C. Tag

The DC Tuition Assistance Program (DCTAG) awards up to $2500 per academic year for eligible DC residents attending private institutions. To find out if you are eligible or to apply, please visit .

UNCF Scholarships

UNCF is the nation’s largest private scholarship provider for minority group members. Each year, they award more than $100 million in scholarships to more than 10,000 students at more than 1,100 schools across the country, including the prestigious network of .

UNCF Scholarships in varying amounts are available to students who meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale ( some scholarships require 3.0 GPAs)
  • Full-time enrollment in a college or university, presently or prospectively
  • FAFSA application completed
  • Financial needs to be verified by the financial aid director of the college or university you wish to attend
