Practice Based Competencies

The Practice-based competencies developed by the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counselors provides a framework for training and evaluating genetic counselors knowledge and skills.

At the 藏精阁, the Genetic Counseling Program has a rigorous and innovative curriculum that embraces the latest technologies and emphasizes best practices in genetics and genetic counseling. The integrated didactic training and fieldwork experiences will ensure genetic counseling students gain a high level of proficiency in the Practiced-Based Competencies (PBCs) and develop a deep knowledge base to lead in efforts to reduce health disparities and make impactful contributions to the field of genetics in various settings.

Practice-Based Competencies

1) Genetics and Genomics Expertise, 2) Risk Assessment, 3) Counseling, 4) Communication, 5) Research, 6) Healthcare Systems, and 7) Professional Identity.
