Physics Resource Center

The Physics Resource Center (PRC) is a dedicated team of professional and peer tutors committed to serving the needs of Xavier Students looking to further their knowledge of Physics concepts. Students who are typically served are those that are enrolled in PHYS 1121, 1141, 2010, and 2020 (and their corresponding labs); however, the center is open to any current Xavier student, who is interested in improving their understanding of Physics and Physics related topics. This includes students enrolled in upper level Physics courses, studying for their MCAT, or interested in general knowledge of life science that is associated with Physics. Ultimately, the PRC is designed to help any Xavier student glean insight to the world of Physics through gains in knowledge and understanding.

On a more direct note, the PRC centers around the idea that Physics, as a life science, allows problems to be solved using simple, direct rules of application to arrive at a conclusion. These rules are applicable to any problem, no matter the difficulty or the scope. In order to practice and perfect these methods, the PRC offers the following resources:

  • Tutoring: Professional and peer tutors to help students with everyday coursework.
  • Review Session: Time set aside to review the topics and material covered in the courses.

The PRC is committed to providing a friendly, welcoming environment suitable for peer study and group support. All services offered by the PRC are free, and students are encouraged to visit, even when they are successfully performing. Most importantly, the data shows that there is a direct correlation between the number of visits a particular student makes to the center and higher grades. The most successful student is the one who takes responsibility for their own education and actively seeks out resources that allow them to excel.

The PRC is open:
Mon - Thur: 9 AM - 7 PM
Friday: 9 AM - 3:00 PM
Sunday: 3 PM - 5 PM (Offered in the Math Resource Center, St. Joe's RM 101)

If a student still needs assistance, please check in the Coordinator’s office, NCF 108B.
