Xavier University Reflects on a Global Witness of Faith, Service, and Sacrifice
The Vatican has announced that Fr. Francis Xavier Truong Buu Diep, a Vietnamese Catholic priest known for his dedicated service to poor and marginalized communities in the Mekong Delta, will be beatified on July 2, 2026. Fr. Francis Xavier Truong Buu Diep was killed in 1946 while serving during a period of political unrest. He is now recognized as a martyr whose sacrifice reflects the enduring power of compassion, courage, and faith under pressure. His witness speaks across cultures and generations, reminding the global Church and institutions like Xavier that true leadership is guided by service, conscience, and love for humanity.
