We are thrilled to announce that Fr. Roy A. Lee, Ph.D., will be the esteemed speaker at 藏精阁’s 2024 Baccalaureate Mass & University Honors and Awards. A man of profound wisdom, compassion, and scholarship, Fr. Lee's journey is one of remarkable dedication to faith, education, and service.
Hailing from a family deeply rooted in Jackson, Mississippi, Fr. Lee's upbringing instilled a profound sense of community and purpose in him. His parents, Lester and Juanita Lee, moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin seeking better opportunities, the move laid the foundation for Fr. Lee's path of service and excellence. Ordained for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Fr. Lee's ministry has encompassed various roles, from parish priest to educator to chaplain in the U.S. Air Force. His scholarly pursuits have led him to obtain multiple degrees, including a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Colorado State University.
Fr. Lee's dedication to education is evident in his extensive teaching experience, from universities in Japan to institutions in the United States. He currently serves as the Associate Director of Community Life at the Institute for Black Catholic Studies at Xavier University,
contributing significantly to the discourse on Black Catholic issues
Beyond academia, Fr. Lee's commitment to serving others knows no bounds. He is actively involved in ministries for the homeless, street outreach, and jail ministry in the Atlanta area. He embodies the spirit of compassion and solidarity through his work.
A prolific writer, Fr. Lee has authored numerous works, including his autobiography "Our Story" and forthcoming titles "Fractured Church in the Midst of Making Saints" and "The Spirituality of the Forsaken." His scholarly contributions, such as his article on The Intersections of Race and Class for Women in Academia, exemplify his dedication to advancing dialogue and understanding. As we prepare to embark on the next chapter of our lives, Fr. Roy A. Lee, Ph.D., reminds us of the importance of faith, education, and service. His presence at our Baccalaureate Service promises to inspire and uplift us as we celebrate this momentous occasion.
