Justin Augustine was elected as Chair of the Xavier University Board of Trustees as of July 1, 2019 and has served on the Board since 2016. Prior to that, he served on the Presidential Advisory Board. Mr. Augustine is currently Regional Vice President with Transdev Services, Inc. Previously Mr. Augustine served as Vice President, Transdev Services, Inc. and General Manager, Regional Transit Authority (RTA).
Mr. Augustine is widely credited in leading the team that restored the transit system to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
Mr. Augustine received his B.S. degree in Accounting from 藏精阁 and began his career as an auditor for the firm of KPMG Peat Marwick of Louisiana, one of the largest professional firms in auditing, tax, and advisory services.
Mr. Augustine is a professional in management and finance with over 38 years of experience in the fields of Transportation Management and Finance/Accounting and has had the responsibility for the day-to-day operations and management of over 1,800 employees.
Mr. Augustine has managed numerous multi-modal transit agencies including the Capital Metropolitan Transit Authority in Austin, Texas, the Africa Transportation Company in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the Regional Transit Authority/Transit Management of Southeastern Louisiana, Inc. in New Orleans. His former management also includes many transit agencies in California including San Diego, Santa Clarita, San Francisco, Oakland, Napa Valley, Sonoma County, Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and San Jose; in addition to other transit agencies in Phoenix, Seattle and Dallas.
Mr. Augustine received a Champion of Change Award from President Obama in 2014, and he was bestowed Knighthood by the French Government in 2015.
Mr. Augustine is a member of many Boards, both past and present, which include the Louisiana Public Transportation Assn., the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, the New Orleans Museum of Art, the World Trade Center of New Orleans, Inc., the Urban league, New Orleans Business Alliance, the Industrial Development Board, the Business Council, GNO, Inc. and St. Augustine High School Foundation.
